Win an overnight stay and dinner at The Bildeston Crown

The Bildeston Crown is a 15th- century, former coaching inn Bildeston, one of the historic Suffolk “wool towns”, just six miles from Lavenham and 15 miles from Bury St Edmunds.

Known for its stylish yet relaxed accommodation, the inn has 12 en suite doubles, a 120-seater restaurant, private meeting room, bar area with open fire and a courtyard and terrace for al fresco dining.

Food is an integral part of The Bildeston Crown experience, and Chef Chris Lee, who owns the business with his wife Hayley, has an excellent reputation for his signature, innovative style. Quality produce, sourced primarily locally, is used when in season, and diners can choose from a range of menus: Classics, which features regular favourites, Select, which changes with the seasons and also perhaps the ultimate dining experience – Chris Lee’s Tasting Menu.

Chris was named an “Up-and-coming chef” in The Good Food Guide in 2007 and although the inn dipped out of the Guide in the Lees’ 2 year absence, The Bildeston Crown is now back as one of only 20 recommended Suffolk restaurants with the recommendation: “Firing on all cylinders following Chris Lee’s return to the stove, the Bildeston Crown is worth a culinary detour.” The Suffolk inn, under the direction of Chris and Hayley, has won a number of awards over the years including the National Enjoy England Awards for Excellence Taste of England Gold and Suffolk magazine Restaurant of the Year in 2010.

Chris made his television debut in 2009 in The Hairy Bikers’ Tour of Britain, a television series in which Simon King and Dave Myers got on their bikes to find the best of each county’s larder, meet the local producers and compete in a “cook- off” with a local chef. In Suffolk, Chris won!

More recently you might have seen Chris on BBC Look East promoting the Cooks & Kids initiative or demonstrating his cooking skills at the Suffolk Show, Aldeburgh Food Festival or the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre.
