Charlie Roadley-Battin & Greg Davis dine out at the stylish Stoke Mill Restaurant

It has been a while since I have had the opportunity to dine at Stoke Mill, which is nestled in its own glorious grounds on the river Tas, just outside the fine city of Norwich, and on this occasion I decided to take my boss along for a treat!

This enchanting mill is steeped in history, dating back over 700 years, and was once owned by Jeremiah and James Colman, who started the production of the now world- famous Colman’s mustard.

Since 1969 though, Ludo Iaccarino and his family have owned the property and he is now in partnership with top chef Andy Rudd, who has a wealth of experience, cooking at some of the finest establishments in both Norfolk and London.

In recent years the mill has been extensively refurbished with tender loving care, managing to combine stunning period features with stylish contemporary design.

The sun shone through the windows of the elegant fully-booked restaurant. With all the tables taken you might expect to be aware of other diners around you but the spacious layout meant the ambience remained relaxed. The beautifully presented canapés got our taste buds going, and the menu was in our opinion extremely well priced, from menu du jour, à la carte, through to the seven-course taster menu.
