Greg and Anna Davis try out the real gem in the Deben area

After recent refurbishment of the restaurant and exterior decorations, the Ufford Crown has managed to improve on what was already fantastic food and a great dining experience.

My wife and I were excited to try out the new restaurant which has a modern yet classic feel to it and welcomes diners for that something a little special. Over the last 5 years since the pub reopened it has grown in popularity and enjoyed huge success. Head chef Will Hardiman is constantly tweaking his well established menu and the service is always very friendly and welcoming.

My wife and I enjoyed the smoked salmon terrine with salad, lemon and granary toast to start. This was fresh and light and not overly creamy on the palette as is often the case with similar dishes. We could easily have chosen any of the starters that included un-potted shrimp & crab, chicken liver & foie gras parfait, ½ dozen oysters or a classic scotch egg with coleslaw amongst others.

Cold water is served as standard at the table and the new setting allowed us to forget about our working day and relax into the moment. This was of course happily aided with a fresh crisp glass of white wine!
