About Mollett’s Farm

An idyllic countryside farm near Saxmundham launched a new tourism venture after converting redundant agricultural buildings into six fully-serviced holiday studios and cottages. Located between the villages of Farnham and Benhall in Suffolk, Mollett’s Farm is owned by husband and wife team Richard and Sasha Ayres, who purchased the farm and its surrounding land in 2005. Dating back to the 17th century and situated alongside an area of outstanding natural beauty, Mollett’s has 39 acres of land, the majority of which is arable and home to a wide range of wildlife. Richard and Sasha wanted to create something individual, and to make this experience accessible to all.

Richard said: “We have always known that our fantastic location makes Mollett’s an ideal base for visitors wishing to explore the Suffolk Heritage Coast and this has always been something we wanted to be able to share with others. The new units are ideal for a wide range of guests, from individuals and couples, to whole families, and they are all finished to a really high standard with everything you would need for an enjoyable stay”. “We also wanted to offer an enjoyable holiday experience for all our visitors – with or without disabilities. Sasha has spent a lot of time working with local disability organisations, and felt there was a lack of accessible accommodation in the surrounding area. So, by ensuring our new buildings incorporate universal access features, we knew we could provide a much-needed facility locally”. Sasha said “we put a lot of thought into how the development would be fresh and modern, but also in keeping with the tradition and heritage of the overall property”. We want to attract as many people as possible to Suffolk – holiday makers as well as business travellers – as we want to show them what this beautiful county has to offer. There are six properties at the moment, making it the ideal location for extended families or groups of friends to get together for holidays or special events. Now, three years on, this has proven to be a winning combination. “We are delighted at the reactions we have had from our guests and the very positive feedback we have received” said Sasha. “Obviously this is a continuing journey and we are still making changes based on the needs of our guests – for example we now have a range of disability aids available upon request and we have added a fully equipped Laundry room. We are also planning our next building – which has evolved around the feedback we have received. We will be continuing with our fully accessible ethos in creating another property for families to enjoy – making the exclusive inclusive! We know how very fortunate we are to live here – and we want to share that with others, and don’t forget, we are also dog friendly!
