Wisbech Grammar School, founded in 1379, is an Independent HMC Co-educational Day School for pupils aged 4-18. It is located on a 34 acre site on the historic North Brink in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Academic excellence is at the heart of the School’s educational approach. In tandem, it offers an educational journey which enables its pupils to go beyond the narrow confines of exam specifications, and provides an all-round education that inspires.
Each individual pupil counts. Pupils are encouraged to be committed, be involved, be independent and most of all, be themselves. The journey begins in the School’s Preparatory School, Magdalene House, where a tangible atmosphere of happiness and exuberance is exhibited by its pupils. Here they are taught the fundamental attributes they need before continuing their journey in the Senior School: kindness, curiosity, good manners, self-reliance, courage, the difference between right and wrong, service, independence of thought and strength of character.
The Senior School also has a dedicated Sixth Form Centre, which provides pupils with the space and facilities they need for study, recreation and social events.
All pupils are encouraged to take on a variety of roles of responsibility and leadership within the School and to the wider community. As well as the ever growing range of extra-curricular activities on offer, the School is fully committed to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and the Young Enterprise programme.
