A great focal point in your home such as a beautiful fireplace or stove is a must if you want to create wow factor.

Our fascination with fire is centuries old and will always be an enduring trend when it comes to keeping our homes looking warm and welcoming over the next few months.

We all love the look of a real flame, and the most obvious option would be an open fire or log burner.

There is something magical about sitting round an open fire, with a glass of wine, the lights turned down and good company.

For some of us an open fire or log burner is not an option. If that is the case then a top of the range electric or gas fire will work just as well.

These come in all styles from the ultra-modern to Retro to traditional giving us an elegant practical choice for every interior.

The Opti-myst range by Dimplex is a superb example, and I have used their Oakhurst log stove in interiors with no working chimney where we needed to create a fantastic focal point with plenty of wow factor.

Apart from the glow of real or fake flames, it’s how we use our accessories and lighting that will ensure our homes continue to reflect a warm and welcoming atmosphere for friends and family to enjoy.
