A sign that spring has finally arrived, says Mark Dixon

The days are drawing out and the weather is now warming up….. thank God. All the tell-tale signs of winter are nearly gone, and spring is on our door steps, so that means one thing: Rhubarb is now in season. It really is the first sign that the season is changing and it’s time to move on to the new ingredients in the kitchen.

Rhubarb is now in full swing on the restaurant menu at both Kindred’s in Wymondham, and also the King’s Arms in Fleggburgh, and both going down a storm! We always change all our menus in season, and work with local farmers and producers to ensure that we are getting the best possible ingredients; we really do feel this is important, as our customers nowadays have a real love of local produce, and the story of where the ingredients come from, Many consider rhubarb a fruit due to the dominance of rhubarb dessert recipes. However, rhubarb is botanically a vegetable.
