About us

As a well-known third-generation family business based in Norfolk, Eric Bates & Sons specialise in handmade bespoke designer kitchens, interiors and solid oak furniture. Since Eric formed the business back in the 1970s as a respected local and national antique dealer, we have worked tirelessly to develop our brand of furniture known for its outstanding quality and beauty.

History

The business was founded by Eric Bates in the 1970’s dealing in antique furniture. The success of those early days led to the expansion into the manufacture of reproduction furniture to satisfy the growing American market and their love of English Heritage, all under the guidance of Eric’s sons Graham, Alan and Roger Bates. The decline of this market in 2008 saw the business diversify again. This time with Eric’s grandson Jamie leading the way into the design and manufacture of handmade and fully bespoke fitted kitchens, bathrooms and wardrobes. The Eric Bates & Sons website gives a first insight into the diversity of the furniture produced, covering designs from traditional and ornate through to modern and more minimal. The furniture showroom on the Business Park is well worth a visit to see first hand the attention to detail and high-end finish of the kitchen, bathroom and wardrobe displays as well as a number of beautiful dining suites that the company has built its reputation on and continues to pride itself in.

There is no hard sell, just a friendly chat about what you are interested in and how they can help you achieve your dream. As everything is manufactured on-site there are no standard sizes that have to be adhered to and no room is too large or too small for the space to be fully optimised with innovative design ideas to fit your personal requirements. A member of the team will visit to get a feel for the room, take measurements and discuss what you wish to incorporate in your design. Plans, along with 3-D design images where appropriate, are then produced for approval and any changes or tweaks made for you

Experienced Cabinet Makers

The cabinetry is then manufactured and finished by the team of experienced cabinet makers and polishers on the premises in Hoveton. Your appliances and accessories can be sourced for you and delivered with the kitchen before being expertly installed by the fitters, all of whom are company employees. Worktops are sourced and fitted through a trusted local supplier who share the same ethos as the team at Eric Bates. Should you wish, other areas of your project such as flooring, tiling and decorating can be managed for you using trusted trades people and overseen by the team at Eric Bates.
