Kings of Suffolk is a well-established country clothing and equestrian store, situated just off the A12outside Woodbridge at Grange Barns Hasketon. The site also boasts a first class farm shop, a flower shop, an antiques and home store, and a fabulous cafe where all the delicious goodies are made on site using local ingredients where possible. Kings of Suffolk was taken over by Ric and Jayne Ackland-Snow just over 3 years ago and they have developed not only the business, but physically extended the shop too.
With the help of experienced staff, some of whom have worked at the shop for many years, Ric and Jayne now understand better the needs of their existing customer, while attempting to attract new visitors to the shop. They continue to stock high-end brands such as Barbour, Aigle, Le Chameau, Musto, Ariat, Pikeur to name a few, but Jayne is always on the look-out for something new and interesting to introduce to customers. “There have been a few duds where I should have known better!” says Jayne, “but on the whole whatever we have found has been welcomed and it has been fun trying to find new things” “My next quest is to attract new customers who don’t have horses” Jayne explains; “We stock some lovely country clothing – coats, jackets, boots, hats etc that you should never go near a horse in!
There are some very stylish ladies in Woodbridge and the surrounding area that don’t come to us because they think we only ‘do horse stuff’ so that is my next challenge and hopefully this article will help” So there really is something for everyone at this wonderfully atmospheric and welcoming shop, including new heaters for those who remember the cold days of old!
Other services on offer include horse and dog rug washing/reproofing/repairing; leather repairs, including such diverse items as vintage car seats, binocular cases, antique travel trunks, as well as all types of saddlery; and horse and dog clipper blade sharpening and servicing.
Oh, did we mention a comprehensive range of horse, dog, poultry and other small animals feed and bedding? That too! Open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5pm, it really is worth a visit, and with the other shops that Grange Barns has, it’s worth setting aside a couple of hours to enjoy it all.
