The shop is also close to the glorious pastoral scenes that John Constable loved to paint, and it was a mere 17 years after Constable’s death that our family, in true pioneer spirit, began importing barrels of the finest wines France had to offer. Once bottled in the cellars underneath Colchester High Street, the great and the good of Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, and London came to taste, learn about, and purchase these exceptional wines.
